Senior🎓
Top SchoolAaron Michal is a seasoned engineering leader with 12+ years of formal experience and a decades-long hands-on track record building web and systems software, now serving as Director of Engineering at SkillLab. He co-led Green River as Partner/CTO, delivering hundreds of production web applications across Perl, PHP, Ruby/Rails, JavaScript/TypeScript and integrations with relational, graph and search systems for up to million-MAU products and multi-hundred-GB datasets. His background spans deep systems work — from C/C++ e-book tooling and a custom triple-store/semantic-web database to flowchart-based code generators targeting both .NET and Enterprise Java — giving him rare fluency across low-level performance optimization and high-level product delivery. He has repeatedly led small cross-functional teams through complex ETL, HL7/financial integrations, background processing and certification efforts (ISO27001), balancing architecture, delivery and client-facing consulting. Based in the Netherlands, he combines pragmatic engineering stewardship with an appetite for unusual technical problems (and a continuing quest to replace an Enterprise JavaBeans-era fanny pack).
