Aaron Middleton is a pragmatic technology leader and founder with over a decade of applied-science and product development experience across defence, steelmaking, and green metals, now focused on bioeconomy and primary industries from Tauranga, New Zealand. As Co-Founder & CTO of HumBio and FungAI and former director-level innovation lead in vanadium and steel firms, he blends physics, thermodynamics and Little’s Law with physics-informed ML to drive efficiency, circularity and novel materials into production. He has a track record of shipping explainable-AI, digital twin and AIoT solutions that turn lab insights into reduce-waste, real-time industrial systems. Holding a Physics degree and an Executive MBA, he moves comfortably between hands-on materials science (from SEM to hyperspectral imaging) and strategic commercialisation. Aaron is passionate about regenerative agriculture and STEM outreach, and runs side projects and a blog that explore resilience, design and practical biosensing. Less obvious: he routinely translates classical engineering principles (Taguchi loss functions, thermodynamics) into modern ML-informed control strategies to improve both ROI and environmental outcomes.
