Senior🎓
Top SchoolAbel Martin is a seasoned senior software engineer and engineering manager based in San Francisco with over a decade of experience building and scaling web platforms across education, logistics, insurance, and e-commerce. He blends hands-on full-stack Rails and microservice architecture expertise with proven leadership—having managed teams up to 11 engineers, led major Stripe integrations, and scaled an education platform to support over one million students. Abel has a strong track record of improving reliability and data workflows (Airflow, Kafka, Docker) and driving measurable outcomes like reducing ETL errors by 35% and enabling $7M+ insurance renewals. He’s comfortable moving between IC and manager roles, mentoring engineers through promotions while also owning critical technical designs such as Apollo-federated GraphQL and federated microservice architectures. Based in the Bay Area and grounded in a CS degree from NYU, he pairs pragmatic product focus with attention to security and privacy for student PII. Off the clock he brings a collaborative, music-friendly vibe—“stops, collaborates, and listens”—that informs his team-first approach.
