Top SchoolAd Gerrits is an experienced information architect and independent consultant based in Nijmegen with over a decade of focused work shaping Dutch municipal and national government architecture. He has been a driving force behind the GEMMA reference architecture since its inception and led practical projects like government-wide notification standards and the KISS program start architecture, blending policy-aware design with hands-on delivery. A long-time proponent of ArchiMate and the Archi tool, he pairs formal architecture description with occasional software development—because he believes in building working solutions, not just diagrams. As a trainer and author of learning materials, he translates complex architectural principles into usable guidance for practitioners. What sets him apart is a persistent curiosity—he still approaches each engagement with the same eagerness to learn he had 30 years ago, often looking beyond Dutch borders for better practices.
