Top SchoolAdam Leadbetter is a data scientist and oceanographer with 12+ years’ experience building interoperable marine metadata systems and applying Semantic Web and Linked Data techniques to environmental data. Currently leading UNESCO’s Decade Coordination Office for Ocean Data Sharing and running his own consultancy, he blends hands-on technical skills (MATLAB, C/C++, XML) with domain expertise from a PhD in Environmental Sciences. His work spans the full data lifecycle—from instrument-level interoperability and controlled-vocabulary services to provenance, trust propagation, and ontology extension—often partnering with manufacturers and global networks. A chartered marine and chartered scientist, he has a track record of translating complex ocean science into reusable, machine-actionable data products and teaching those practices through international fora. Less obvious: his career began with BASIC on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum and a lifelong curiosity about creative data fitting that informs how he models and documents environmental evidence.
