Top SchoolAfonso Gonçalves is a Data Engineer with 8 years of experience building reliable, maintainable data systems and production SQL pipelines, currently owning the core data processing layer for Jounce Media’s OpenRTB products. Based in Lisbon, he blends deep SQL and Redshift expertise with Python automation to reduce technical debt and improve correctness in client-facing analytics. His background spans full-stack and decentralized infrastructure work, including developing JavaScript libraries and an Electron app, giving him a pragmatic understanding of both backend data platforms and developer-facing tooling. Afonso also cultivates the local startup and dev communities as Chapter Director of Startup Grind Lisbon and co-founder of LisboaJS, which keeps him plugged into emerging ideas and talent. He holds an MS in Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico and has teaching and mentoring experience that sharpens his ability to explain complex concepts clearly. Colleagues describe him as a curious problem-solver who intentionally designs systems for long-term maintainability rather than short-term fixes.
