Top SchoolAgastya Kalra is a tech lead and product innovator with 11 years of experience at the intersection of machine learning, computational imaging, and computer vision, currently based in Palo Alto. He was a founding principal engineer at Akasha Imaging, where he led development of the Akasha ClearSight camera from inception to acquisition, and now guides product innovation at Intrinsic. His career blends academic rigor—co-authoring papers in NeurIPS, ICCV, and ICLR and lecturing extensively at University of Waterloo—with hands-on product delivery across startups and deployed computer vision systems. He has a track record of improving state-of-the-art performance in applied settings (e.g., Photofeeler’s photo-rating algorithms) and bringing novel research into robust products. Beyond engineering, he invests as an angel and LP, signaling a broader interest in early-stage tech and commercial strategy. Notably, he combines deep research experience (SPN libraries and GPU-backed tooling) with the practical skills needed to ship complex imaging hardware and software.
