Summary
👤
SeniorAlef Castelo is a Senior Full Stack Engineer with 12 years of experience building and evolving both monoliths and microservices across payments, fintech, and consumer platforms. He’s fluent in PHP, Node.js, Clojure and modern frontend stacks (React + TypeScript), and has shaped architecture and testing strategies—introducing mutation testing, clean architecture, and 100% coverage practices in PCI-sensitive projects. At Nubank he helped migrate customers and delivered money-box product work powered by Datomic and Kafka for high-availability services, and he now applies that scale experience at Zillow. A community organizer for PHP Com Rapadura, Alef combines hands-on coding with mentoring, hiring and cross-team coordination, and he often drives proactive architectural fixes rather than waiting for problems to surface. Notably, he pairs pragmatic legacy-code improvements with cloud-native patterns on AWS and GCP, making systems faster, safer and more autonomous.
