Top SchoolAlessandro Montanari is a founder and Principal Research Scientist with 11+ years building end-to-end wearable sensing systems that bridge ultra-low-power machine learning, hardware design, and real-world clinical validation. As CSO of OmniBuds and tech lead at Nokia Bell Labs Cambridge, he has translated earable computing research into commercial-grade products and a strong patent portfolio in continuous cardiovascular sensing. Trained at Cambridge (PhD) and Bologna, he combines rigorous academic methods with hands-on engineering, routinely shipping HW/SW prototypes and running field deployments. His work spans batteryless sensing, acoustic analytics, and in-ear physiological monitoring, and he drives research-to-regulation pathways for medically actionable wearables. Less obvious is his pattern of moving ideas from drone path‑planning and contextual ML in academia into commercially viable, human-centred devices, reflecting a rare blend of system-level architecture and signal-level science.
