Summary
👤
SeniorAlessio Laiso is a Lead Product Designer with 14 years of experience crafting user-centred digital products and design systems for companies from startups to enterprise, currently shaping Metabase’s product experience from Lisbon. He blends product design leadership with hands-on execution across UX, UI and research, previously driving measurable growth at Hotjar, Aula and Zalando where his work improved conversion, activation and satisfaction metrics. Alongside product work he is an accomplished type designer since 2013—his open-source Aleo family is served by Google Fonts millions of times weekly and has been adopted by brands like eBay and Amazon. He mentors designers through Designlab and freelances custom type and branding projects for clients including the Italian Space Agency and publishers, demonstrating a rare crossover of visual craft and product thinking. Known for initiating company-wide programs (accessibility, mentorship, OKRs) and running cross-functional workshops, he excels at aligning stakeholders around pragmatic, research-driven product vision. His background in industrial design and computer science gives him a multidisciplinary edge when solving complex UX and technical integration challenges.
