Top SchoolAlex Cao is a Senior Data Scientist with 10 years of experience applying ML, data engineering, and robotics expertise to transportation and autonomous vehicle systems. Based in Ann Arbor, he currently turns terabytes of streaming AV data into actionable insights at May Mobility, leveraging AWS and big-data tooling to support stakeholders and fleet operations. His background blends academic and industry work—from predictive maintenance for helicopters and aerospace engineering to building connected-vehicle dashboards, CNNs for street-attribute detection, and public-health/traffic visualizations at the University of Michigan. He’s comfortable shipping end-to-end solutions: data pipelines, APIs, interactive dashboards, and production models—often integrating geospatial analysis and empirical Bayes exposure modeling. Notably, he has taught workshops and created tooling to make large-scale Spark and NLP workflows reproducible for researchers, showing a talent for translating complex data systems into usable products.
