Top SchoolAlex Gorichev is an enthusiastic software engineer and Computer Science student at the University of St Andrews with six years of hands-on experience building personal projects like Daily Diary and a strong polyglot background in Rust, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, and Dart/Flutter. He blends practical engineering with a knack for teaching and leadership, evidenced by multi-year coaching roles in taekwondo and trail-leading mountain bike instruction at summer camps. Alex has experimented with emerging tooling—using the niche Uiua language to enhance AI reasoning—and enjoys tackling low-level and front-end problems alike. Comfortable working in English and Russian, he pairs curiosity-driven side projects with disciplined execution and a talent for adapting activities to constraints (e.g., teaching bike repair when equipment or weather forced changes). Known for stepping up when teams need flexibility, he consistently finds creative ways to improve user experiences, whether campers’ adventures or app workflows. Ambitious and versatile, Alex is focused on turning personal passion projects into robust, user-centered software.
