Top SchoolAlex Mccaskey is a quantum computer scientist and engineering leader with 11 years of experience building language, compiler, and software infrastructure for quantum-accelerated high-performance computing. As NVIDIA’s lead architect for the Quantum Optimized Device Architecture (QODA) and former lead developer of the XACC framework and founder of the QCOR compiler project, he combines systems-level C++ design with pragmatic research-driven language extensions for heterogeneous quantum-classical workflows. His seven-year tenure at Oak Ridge National Laboratory grounded his work in large-scale HPC and simulator development, while his current role focuses on production-ready programming models for quantum acceleration. Based in Knoxville, Tennessee, he blends deep physics training with hands-on software craftsmanship and a recurring theme of turning research prototypes into usable tooling for developers.
