Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolAlex Salgado is a Senior Developer Advocate based in Rio de Janeiro who blends 20+ years in software development with 11 years of focused experience enabling developer communities across LATAM at Elastic. He helps teams unlock search, observability and vector-based workflows—speaking and writing about topics from ChatGPT+Elasticsearch to robotics and sensor ingestion—while maintaining a hands-on research role building autonomous boats and computer vision systems. A former professor and startup founder, he bridges academia, industry and community by teaching cloud and ML topics, mentoring faculty, and organizing meetups across Brazil and neighboring countries. His technical breadth spans ROS, NVIDIA embedded platforms, OpenCV, AWS RoboMaker, Python and full-stack web development, reflecting a career that moves fluidly between product delivery and research. Uncommonly for an advocate, he pairs developer outreach with active PhD work in computer vision and a background in mindfulness and yoga instruction, bringing an unusually holistic perspective to developer productivity and wellbeing.
