Top SchoolAlex Smith is a Principal Data Scientist in Los Angeles with 12 years of experience turning messy, massive datasets into actionable insight through custom 2D/3D web-based visualizations and experimental data art. He moved from early HTML design into full-stack and visualization engineering at JPL and Zignal Labs, where he now leads data science efforts to characterize patterns and drive classification decisions at scale. Alex blends research-oriented R&D with practical engineering—shipping interactive, real-time visual systems that expose algorithmic weaknesses and opportunities. His background in library and information science and an unlikely start in music business give him a unique lens for information architecture and human-centered visual storytelling.
