Summary
🤩
RockstarAlex Wilmer is a Senior Software Engineer with 11 years of experience building front-end driven, API-first applications and developer tools, currently contributing to Topstep from Edmonton. He has led teams and products across startups and scale-ups—most recently at Apollo GraphQL on Apollo Studio and earlier as Frontend Team Lead at Windscribe—bringing deep expertise in React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Node and search technologies. Alex blends hands-on engineering with mentoring and consulting experience, having taught at Lighthouse Labs and offered tutoring in modern JS/TS, which informs his pragmatic approach to developer experience. His background includes building data portals and maintaining Arranger at the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research, reflecting an ability to bridge product design, system architecture and data-driven UX. A lifelong tinkerer with an audio-production diploma and a taste for stoic clarity (he quotes Marcus Aurelius), he pairs disciplined reasoning with a playful, emoji-friendly GitHub presence.
