Senior🎓
Top SchoolAlexander Dibbo is a Cloud Architect and group leader with 11 years’ experience building and operating large OpenStack clouds for scientific research, currently leading a 12-person team at STFC from Reading. He designs and procures multi-million-pound hardware platforms, runs an OpenStack environment supporting hundreds of projects and thousands of VMs that underpin facilities like ISIS, Diamond and international science programmes such as SKA. Equally comfortable in hands-on systems work and strategic stakeholder engagement, he blends deep Linux, Ceph and virtualization expertise with incident response and security collaboration (including EGI vulnerability work). His background ranges from Windows/SAN/Hyper-V enterprise ops to Tier-1 LHC storage and Ceph deployments, giving him a practical appreciation for both legacy enterprise and modern cloud infrastructure. Notably, he has repeatedly scaled services to meet real-time experimental needs and training workflows, balancing performance, compliance and community-driven requirements.
