Head Of IT Operations
Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany
Summary
👤
SeniorAlexander Eckert is a seasoned IT operations leader with over two decades in systems and infrastructure, currently heading IT Operations at freenet DLS where he leads ~40 engineers and oversees ~1500 servers, databases and multi-cloud integrations. He blends hands-on SRE and release engineering with strategic responsibilities for datacenter connectivity, SLA management and XaaS evaluation, driving automation (Ansible), Kubernetes adoption and synthetic monitoring. A proponent of modern, non-hierarchical leadership, he focuses on responsibility, continuous development and team participation to create motivated, purpose-driven teams. His career path from UNIX/Linux and SAP system administration to senior SRE and operational leadership gives him deep operational insight and pragmatic stability engineering. Less obvious: he has long-standing institutional knowledge across freenet DLS—serving in roles from application admin to supervisory board member—which helps him bridge technical, organizational and governance perspectives.
