Summary
👤
SeniorAlexander Romanov is a business-oriented Director of Engineering and serial founder with over a decade of hands-on experience building high-performance web systems, startups, and data-intensive backends. He has founded three startups with two exits, led engineering and product teams of up to 15 people, and currently heads engineering at Import.io where he rebuilt crawling infrastructure to cut costs and double performance. Deeply fluent in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and a wide polyglot backend stack (Kotlin, Python, Java, C#, PHP), he combines systems-level expertise in web crawling and anti-bot reverse engineering with production ML and cloud-native operations on AWS and Kubernetes. His past ventures include launching successful OTAs and metasearch products that scaled to millions of crawled pages and thousands of bookings per month, highlighting a rare blend of product, growth, and technical execution. Based in Phuket, he pairs competitive programming roots and pragmatic engineering to optimize both cost and performance in large-scale data collection systems.
