Top SchoolAlexander Schmitz is a UX Accessibility Engineer and full‑stack developer with 14 years of experience building inclusive, standards-driven web experiences from the front end to server and mapping backends. He’s an active open-source maintainer and project leader, having steered and contributed to high-profile projects like jQuery UI, jQuery Mobile and Hammer.js, and authored the only fully internationalized input number formatter based on Intl. A long‑time W3C contributor, he brings product and standards expertise to accessibility and API design, particularly around pointer events and browser interoperability. Alexander has led teams and architectures across startups and agencies, shipping Svelte/Postgres/GraphQL mapping platforms, complex cartographic tooling, and scalable web systems on AWS. He blends pragmatic engineering with design sensibility from decades of freelance UX and graphic work, and often surfaces subtle cross-device edge cases that improve real-world accessibility. Based in Westbrook, Maine, he combines deep open‑source pedigree with hands‑on product delivery at Mozilla and prior clients.
