Top SchoolAlexandra Kanik is a Data Visualization Editor with 11 years of experience turning complex datasets into clear, engaging narratives for newsrooms including the Houston Chronicle and San Antonio Express-News. Trained as a graphic designer, she blends visual design with hands-on coding in JavaScript, Python, HTML/CSS and Drupal to build interactive journalism and analytics tools. Her background as a data reporter and interactive developer at regional outlets like Louisville Public Media and City Monitor gives her an uncommon mix of reporting rigor and production engineering. She’s comfortable leading end-to-end projects—from concept and data analysis to polished front-end design—and treats newsroom challenges as opportunities to teach audiences, not just inform them. Based in Spokane, WA, she brings a designer’s eye to data-driven storytelling and a reporter’s instinct for what readers actually need.
