Alexandre Legrand is a CNRS research scientist with eight years of international experience developing and scaling metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), porous organic cages (POCs) and metal-organic polyhedra (MOPs) for sensing, catalysis and separation. He combines deep synthetic and characterization skills with hands-on process development—from post-synthetic linker modification and fluorescent MOF sensors to activation and shaping methods for industrial-ready nanoporous materials. His PhD in physical chemistry included pioneering work on semiconductor nanoparticles in zeolites for energy conversion, and his postdoctoral projects produced a patented fluorescent biomarker assay and JACS-published advances in enantioselective MOF modification. Currently funded as a JSPS fellow in Kitagawa’s lab, he explores MOF-directed polymerization to control chain alignment and tacticity, a niche that bridges supramolecular chemistry and materials engineering. Based between Lille and Kyoto, he brings a rare combination of fundamental insight and scale-up experience useful for translating porous-material concepts toward practical applications.
