Summary
🤩
RockstarAlexandru Badiu is a seasoned engineering leader based in London, currently Senior Director of Engineering at BENlabs with over a decade of professional experience and nearly two decades of hands-on platform building and teaching. He has progressed through technical and managerial roles—from development lead to director—shipping scalable web platforms, search integrations and mobile apps across companies like Demotix, Corbis and multiple startups. Comfortable spanning front-end, back-end and infrastructure, he has deep Drupal, Django and Solr expertise and a masters in distributed systems from the University of Bucharest. A longtime community organizer and educator, he co-founded the Romanian Drupal Association and has taught web development at university level, bringing strong mentorship and developer-advocacy to his leadership. Pragmatic and community-minded, he has a history of open-source awareness and license stewardship from large-scale migrations and platform rewrites. Offbeat humour in his GitHub bio hints at a leader who combines technical rigor with personality and a dislike for bland boilerplate.
