Top SchoolAlexis Akers is a Senior iOS software engineer based in New York with 10 years of experience building reliable, high‑quality mobile features for retail and enterprise products. Currently at Square, he leads cross-disciplinary projects for Square for Retail—delivering scalable features like label printing (over 1.5M labels printed in six months), cloud-based inventory counting, and a cross-product barcode scanning modernization. Earlier roles at Wire and Deutsche Bank honed his skills in secure communications, offline-first sync engines, internationalization, and company-wide accessibility initiatives. He combines low-level image and hardware troubleshooting (vImage, printer command languages, AVFoundation) with pragmatic system design and release management. An advocate for accessibility and open source, he has contributed platform-agnostic tests and UI components to projects like BulletinBoard and champions knowledge-sharing across teams. His atypical background in law study gives him a structured, detail-oriented approach to product and process decisions.
