Alexis Drogoul is a leader in agent-based modeling and simulation with a PhD from Université Pierre et Marie Curie and over three decades of research experience, currently directing UMMISCO IRD and co-leading the GAMA platform project. He has built and managed interdisciplinary teams across Vietnam and the Philippines to apply computational modeling to environmental decision-support, climate adaptation and urban systems, combining academic rigor with capacity building. As former professor and long-time IRD senior researcher, he blends deep theoretical expertise in multi-agent systems with hands-on platform development and project leadership. Less obvious: he has repeatedly bridged East–West research collaborations—serving extended stays in Vietnam, an invited professorship in Kyoto, and sustained partnerships that translate models into local policy-relevant tools.
