Senior🎓
Top SchoolAli Al-shabibi is a Senior Software Engineer in Zurich with 14 years of experience building scalable networked systems, from research-grade multipath routing to production-grade cloud-native control planes. He helped architect and implement foundational open-source projects like ONOS, CORD and VOLTHA—contributing core OpenFlow and flow-rule improvements—and now applies that expertise at Google. A founder and former VP of a data analytics startup, he blends product-minded leadership with deep backend and DevOps chops, including container orchestration and service discovery automation. His background spans academia (PhD and postdoc work on SDN) and industry, giving him a rare mix of rigorous research intuition and pragmatic engineering for carrier and cloud networks.

Contributions summary:Ali implemented and refined a "Podder" service within the "opencord/voltha" repository, a virtual OLT hardware abstraction project. This service monitors Consul-registered services to spin up dependencies, primarily involving container orchestration and network setup. The commits also involved modifying and adding various Python scripts, including a configuration file, suggesting work related to both backend logic and potentially the integration/orchestration of services. The user's contributions included significant additions to the project, focusing on defining and deploying network services, and managing configuration and deployment via docker compose.
