Top SchoolAlice Hau is an engineering-focused GenAI practitioner and former founder with a multidisciplinary background spanning computer science and philosophy. She builds production ML features and open-source AI agents—most recently at Block—and now works on generative AI engineering at D. E. Shaw, bringing hands-on product and research sensibilities to high-impact systems. Her career weaves startup founding (raised $4.5M for a fashion AI startup), federal tech policy work in the U.S. Senate, and research communication at Stanford HAI, giving her a rare mix of technical, entrepreneurial, and policy fluency. With degrees in CS and philosophy, she approaches AI problems with both rigorous engineering and ethical, human-centered perspectives.
