Alison Hughes is a founder and engineer who builds hardware-aware software and products that enable creativity and better fit for real people. With over a decade of entrepreneurial experience and two decades of engineering work, she led development of Apple’s USB audio drivers and low-latency kernel I/O used across Macs, iPhones, iPads and the Cinema Display. She now runs Beatrice Forms, applying 3D body-scan and fabrication tech to reinvent dress forms and make custom apparel production accessible from a smartphone. Earlier roles include product-focused embedded and desktop software for makers at Other Machine Co. and a product design studio, Little Barn Industries, blending prototyping, IoT, and fabrication. A longtime maker and former DJ/music producer, she pairs systems-level technical depth with a strong empathy for creative workflows and users.
