Technical Lead at Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry
Canberra, Australia
Summary
👤
SeniorAlistair Phillips is a pragmatic technical lead based in Canberra with two decades of software experience and over a decade in senior government and startup technology roles. He specialises in delivering production systems across the full stack—Java EE, modern front-end frameworks, cloud platforms and CI/CD—while translating complex regulatory and biosecurity requirements into usable applications. His career blends hands-on implementation (from mainframe-era web services to Spring Boot and AngularJS) with team leadership roles including Head of Engineering and CTO at FifthDomain. He has repeatedly guided government digital projects to production under tight timelines and accessibility (WCAG) constraints, and has a track record of forming and mentoring cross-functional teams. Notably, he helped ship one of the first DTO cloud deployments and has experience bringing prototype stacks into enterprise-grade solutions.
