Top SchoolAllison James is a creative technologist and managing director with 12 years of professional experience and over two decades building games, fonts, music and design under the NAL alias. She runs Chequered Ink Ltd, a two-person indie studio producing games, web design, typefaces and trailers, combining hands-on creation with small‑studio leadership. Previously she contributed as a developer at YoYo Games, adapting and building titles for mobile platforms and improving compatibility across devices. Her background spans 16+ years of GameMaker use and 14+ years of font creation, reflecting deep craft in both interactive and typographic design. Based in Bedwas, Wales, she blends artistic vision with practical development skills to ship polished content end-to-end. An oft-overlooked strength is her sustained solo output under NAL, demonstrating rare long-term self-driven product discipline in indie development.
