Top SchoolAmber Hoak is a Senior Software Engineer at Microsoft Research with nine years of experience building full-stack systems that bridge AI and business intelligence through high-performance, custom data visualizations. She prototypes server-less cloud applications and interactive interfaces using SVG, Canvas, and WebGL to make large-scale datasets and complex algorithms immediately understandable. Her background in the Air Force informs a disciplined approach to scalable microservice architectures, rapid prototyping, and mission-critical data ingestion workflows. Amber combines research-driven engineering across computer vision, ML, graphics, and HCI with hands-on design sensibilities, and she volunteers on the board of a mentoring nonprofit supporting first-generation college students. An unusual blend of operational cybersecurity, formal math training, and visual design gives her a rare ability to translate technical research into usable products.
