Top SchoolAmila Gunarathne is a founder and software leader with eight years of experience building communities and technology-driven solutions from Sri Lanka’s Uva Province. Currently CEO of Peak Pedals, she blends hands-on engineering experience—from a software engineering role at Yoors to early R&D training—with a strong track record in developer community building as a former GitHub Campus Expert. She has taught computing at two universities and supported regional startups, demonstrating an ability to translate academic concepts into practical projects and local impact. Amila’s career shows a pattern of creating ecosystems as well as products, whether managing community programs at Uva Startup Hub or facilitating teams early in her career. Though her GitHub presence is understated, her ethos—“just living”—reflects a grounded, people-first leadership style that she pairs with technical credibility. Based in Bandarawela, she combines entrepreneurial grit with a commitment to empowering others through collaborative technology.
