Summary
👤
SeniorAmitava Shee is an engineering leader with over 25 years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems across healthcare, education, and finance. He blends hands-on expertise in Solr, Spark, Kubernetes, Java, Python and cloud-native microservices with strategic architecture work—having led enterprise architecture programs, SOA/ESB platforms, and research-scale data integrations. His recent roles include Principal Engineer for AI/ML search at ITHAKA and CTO at reThought Insurance, where he translated ML research into production search and indexing solutions on AWS and DataStax Enterprise. Amitava has repeatedly delivered in both startup and Fortune 500 environments, driving projects from private-cloud proofs of concept to federated, Big Data cohort-discovery systems in a clinical setting. He’s comfortable bridging research and production: implementing deep learning search pipelines as well as low-level systems like Linux/C++ modules earlier in his career. Based in Ann Arbor, he brings a rare combination of applied ML, search index expertise, and enterprise governance experience.
