Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolAmogh Akshintala is a software engineer with 12 years of experience focused on high-performance systems, currently building Apache Arrow-based vectorized query execution in Databricks' Photon engine. He previously worked as a Research Scientist at Meta Reality Labs on an IDL compiler and RPC framework for next-gen AR/VR OS, and earned a PhD studying virtualization of GPUs and API-controlled accelerators. His background spans OS and file systems (BetrFS), compilers (LLVM backend for a GPU vISA), and hardware-aware systems research, giving him rare cross-disciplinary expertise at the intersection of system software and computer architecture. At UNC he combined performance engineering, ISA analysis across Ubuntu binaries, and accelerator abstraction design, reflecting a practical curiosity about real-world instruction distributions and heterogeneous compute. Based in Reno, Nevada, he contributes to efforts documenting the human side of CS research (CSRTales) and brings both production-oriented engineering and deep research instincts to performance-critical infrastructure.
