Top SchoolAnastasiia Birillo is a research-driven education leader with 10 years of experience, currently heading JetBrains’ Education Research Group from Belgrade to modernize programming learning across EdTech. She combines a strong academic foundation—PhD work in computer science at Utrecht and advanced degrees from Saint Petersburg—with hands-on interest in static analysis and compilers, channeling that expertise into practical features like AI-based personalized hints for learners. Her group’s roadmap spans immediate product innovations, mid-term tools for skills like prompt engineering and LLM interaction, and long-term reimagining of how code is written, reflecting a rare blend of pedagogy and systems thinking. Known for sharing knowledge through conferences and hackathons, she pursues both empirical research and product-facing experiments to close the gap between learning theory and developer tooling.
