Senior🎓
Top SchoolAndrea Spada is a master luthier and multi-instrumentalist based in Rio de Janeiro with over a decade of hands-on experience crafting and restoring fine string instruments. He runs his own atelier, Andrea Spada :: Liuteria d'Autore, and previously specialized in bass and cello making with a dedicated shop for contrabbassi and viols. Trained in fine arts and restoration and classically educated in cello at the Conservatorio di Bologna, he blends artistic restoration techniques with practical instrument design. Alongside luthiery, he performs professionally as a double bassist, bassist, backing vocalist and co-arranger for Brazilian pop artist Leoni Siqueira. A composer and producer, Andrea pairs traditional craftsmanship with contemporary musical practice—an approach reflected in his self-described identity as "Luthier. Musician. Nerd." His rare combination of fine-art restoration training and active touring/recording experience gives him a deep, performance-informed perspective on instrument voice and playability.
