Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolAndreu Murtra is a PhD-trained robotics engineer and business director with 20+ years of C++ development and over a decade of ROS expertise, co-founder of Beta Robots where he transitioned from CEO to lead business and innovation efforts. He combines deep technical mastery in mobile robotics—SLAM, state estimation, sensor fusion across LiDAR, radar, cameras, IMU and GPS—with hands-on field testing and real-time systems engineering. His career blends academic research (PhD and postdoc at IRI) with productization and company strategy, giving him a rare ability to move algorithms from papers to deployed robotic platforms. Known for pragmatic open-source practices and teaching at the master’s level, he’s equally comfortable designing sensor interfaces as negotiating contracts and steering finances. A less obvious strength is his background in aerospace radiation data processing and calibration, which informs a rigorous, measurement-focused approach to perception system reliability.
