Andrew Davies is a Full Professor and biological oceanographer at the University of Rhode Island who combines marine biology with physics, engineering and computing to study habitats from coastal shores to the deep ocean. With a PhD from Queen’s University Belfast and over a decade of faculty experience at Bangor University and URI, he has applied submersible technologies and quantitative methods to investigate species–environment interactions, including seminal work on limpets and deep-sea corals. He is known for bridging disciplines to turn complex field observations into testable, technology-enabled hypotheses. Based in Kingston, RI, he brings practical experience across shallow and abyssal systems and a track record of translating hands-on submersible work into broader ecological and engineering insights.
