Top SchoolAndrew Gerst is a founder, CEO, and hands-on CTO with 14 years of engineering experience who builds full-stack products end-to-end and has a track record of shipping platform-scale systems across startups. He founded Orbit to tackle the global loneliness epidemic, personally architecting and implementing the mobile, web, backend, admin, and infrastructure layers with an emphasis on safety, privacy, and real-world connection. Previously a Staff Engineer at Checkr and BuildOps and an early principal at Passport, he has led migrations, observability, permission models, and developer enablement that allowed teams to move faster while reducing operational risk. Known for pairing visionary product thinking with deep technical craft, he often single-handedly builds features and architectures that typically require cross-functional teams. Based in Los Angeles, he brings an accessibility-minded foundation from early UNC research into modern consumer and enterprise systems.
