Top SchoolAndrew Gilmartin is a pragmatic software engineer and architect with 14+ years of experience building backend and distributed systems for both startups and large enterprises. He has a deep Java background—Spring, Spring Boot, legacy Swing, CORBA—and practical DevOps experience across AWS, CI/CD pipelines, and small-VM production environments. His work ranges from migrating large systems (Java 8→11, Ant→Maven) and designing high-throughput services (400M queries/month) to mentoring teams and stabilizing mission-critical naval and financial applications. Comfortable in small teams, he favors tried-and-true open source building blocks and emphasizes that successful software is as much about people and attention to detail as it is about tooling. Based in Rhode Island, he blogs about technology and craft and holds an AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification.
