Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolAndrew Hess is a backend software engineer with nine years of experience building high-performance systems, currently enhancing SigScalr’s observability database. He has a strong systems background—writing a Linux kernel module for fast page activity tracking and using SIMD-optimized C to double log parsing throughput at AWS—and prefers languages like Rust for safe, performant code. A Caltech CS graduate who briefly stepped away to pursue solo projects, he excels at thoughtful design before implementation and juggling multiple tasks to unblock progress. He gravitates toward work that measurably improves others’ workflows and avoids large, hard-to-reason-about Python codebases and slow review processes.
