Top SchoolAndrew Swan is a retired software engineer in Sydney with 17 years focused on enterprise Java, domain-driven design and loosely coupled architectures. He spent over a decade at Atlassian as a senior developer on application integration, and previously led data and storage design for VMware’s Elastic Runtime PaaS, building Cassandra-backed abstraction layers and an elastic logging service. His background blends hands-on J2EE/PL-SQL development and people management—having led small engineering teams and regional IT operations across Asia-Pacific—rooted in an electrical engineering degree from UNSW and early naval systems engineering. Known for pragmatic TDD, CI and agile practice, he pairs deep system design experience with operational discipline learned in both military and large-enterprise environments. An understated strength is translating low-level storage and logging challenges into maintainable platform APIs that scale.
