Summary
🤩
RockstarAndrey Smirnov is an engineering lead with over a decade of hands-on experience building high-availability, high-load backend systems across cloud and distributed environments. Currently leading development at Sidero Labs, he focuses on OS-level infrastructure for distributed systems using Go, Kubernetes, and Buildkit, bringing low-level signal handling together with integration testing. His background includes principal engineering at Microsoft Azure and designing exabyte-scale object storage at Dell EMC, complemented by early leadership roles at Skype and Qik in real-time and messaging systems. Fluent across Go, C/C++, Python, Ruby and PostgreSQL, he combines software architecture instincts with practical devops and release automation skills. A longtime open-source practitioner, he created tools like aptly and a Redis resharing proxy and has taught scalable-system design, reflecting a mix of product-facing delivery and deep systems craftsmanship. Based in Tbilisi, Georgia, Andrey pairs academic roots from MSU with a knack for turning complex distributed requirements into reliable production services.
