Top SchoolAnshuman Chhabra is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at the University of South Florida with a decade of experience at the intersection of machine learning, robust and fair AI, and adversarial robustness. He earned a PhD from UC Davis (3.97 GPA) and transitioned from graduate research and a postdoc into faculty while producing applied interventions that debias recommendation systems at scale. His work spans theory and systems — from proposing fairness-aware clustering and adversarially robust learning methods to designing an online Twitter intervention impacting ~40k users and a Deep RL approach for YouTube recommendations. He also has industry and open-source experience, including TensorFlow bindings for Elixir (Tensorflex) during Google Summer of Code and practical medical-imaging ML deployed for a patented microscope scanner. Based in Tampa, FL, he blends rigorous academic research with hands-on engineering, often bridging experimentation at labs like Max Planck and UC Amsterdam with real-world deployments. A quirk: his GitHub bio simply reads “飛ぶ” (to fly), which reflects a concise, exploratory mindset behind technically broad contributions.
