Top SchoolAnthony Townsend is a senior research associate and urban technologist who combines a decade-plus of applied research with hands-on strategy and product prototyping at the intersection of cities and digital technology. Based at Cornell Tech’s Jacobs Urban Tech Hub, he leads cross-campus projects and civic collaborations that translate academic insight into practical urban experiments. He founded and still leads Star City Group International, a global consulting network that has prototyped future-proof urban technologies for clients across six continents. Author of two books on urban tech futures, his work blends long-form scholarship with scenario forecasting and design-led research used by governments and Fortune 500s. Trained as a PhD urban planner at MIT, he brings rare depth in both policy-facing research and technical operational experience dating back to early internet network operations. Colleagues value his ability to turn high-level foresight into tangible roadmaps for cities navigating automated mobility, data governance, and civic infrastructure.
