Apostol Natsev is a Principal Engineer and tech lead manager at Google Research, where he heads the Video Understanding team in the Machine Perception group, building large-scale computer vision and video understanding systems for YouTube and beyond. With over two decades of research and engineering experience—including senior research roles at IBM Research and a PhD in Computer Science from Duke—he combines deep academic foundations in mathematics and vision with product-focused delivery at internet scale. He leads efforts to enable machines to understand and describe video at near–human expert level from pixels and audio, translating cutting-edge research into features that make video content more discoverable and delightful.
