Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolAran Smith is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer based in Dublin with a decade of industry experience spanning software engineering, data engineering, QA and robotics research. He currently builds and deploys LLM-based RAG question-answering systems and production ML pipelines on AWS (including Bedrock), while ensuring data privacy and AI Act compliance. Earlier roles saw him design large-scale ETL and reporting frameworks using Glue, Redshift, S3, Airflow and DVC to make experiments reproducible and operational reports reliable. His MSc in Artificial Intelligence is grounded in hands-on robotics research—implementing adaptive algorithms on the R-Hex platform—which complements his production focus and explains his interest in resilient, adaptive ML systems. Colleagues describe him as a pragmatic innovator who bridges research and engineering, comfortable moving models from experimentation into compliant, auditable production workflows.
