Art O Cathain
Summary
🤩
RockstarArt Cathain is a pragmatic technical architect and software engineer with 12 years of experience designing and delivering cloud-native systems across public and private sectors, now focused on AI safety at the UK government's AI Safety Institute. AWS-certified and fluent in Java/JVM and Node.js stacks, he combines hands-on coding with strategic architecture—proven across serverless, container, and VM deployments—while championing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to automate reliable delivery. Comfortable embedded in teams, he balances developer productivity with early guardrails for security, cost and availability, and has a track record of winning senior stakeholder trust. A contributor to the well-known Thunderbird Android client, he brings practical mobile bug-fix experience alongside large-scale backend work. He works part-time with a flexible schedule and is explicit about availability, making him a predictable, senior partner for short- or long-term engagements.
