Top SchoolAsim Ukaye is a doctoral candidate in Computer Vision at MBZUAI with nine years of engineering experience focused on fairness in federated learning and deployable deep learning systems. He previously built autonomy and flight-control solutions for UAV-based aerial inspection at Honeywell, where he designed ROS-based visual-inertial odometry and sensor-fusion prototypes. Trained at IIT Bombay in aerospace engineering, he blends rigorous control and robotics foundations with practical embedded optimization using tools like TensorRT. His work sits at the intersection of research and productization—moving novel federated learning ideas into resource-constrained, real-world robotic platforms. Based in Abu Dhabi, he brings hands-on UAV autonomy experience from academic and industry settings, plus a knack for squeezing performance from embedded AI stacks.
