Top SchoolAtharv Sonwane is a PhD student in Computer Science at Cornell with 11 years of hands-on experience researching and building AI-driven systems across programming languages, robotics, and vision. Previously a Research Fellow on Microsoft's AI4Code team, he helped develop MASAI and CodePlan—systems that combine static analysis and large language models to push state-of-the-art software development agents. His background spans neurosymbolic reasoning, Bayesian program synthesis, GNN-guided task-and-motion planning, and reinforcement learning for aerial robots, reflecting a rare cross-section of PL, AI, and robotics expertise. Comfortable moving between theory and systems, he has repeatedly translated research ideas into practical prototypes during internships and lab roles at top institutions. Based in the U.S. with roots in India and early schooling abroad, he brings a global perspective and curiosity-driven approach to complex, interdisciplinary problems.
